This magnificent home is in the heart of Lower Merion Township’s, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. On this elegant home, we carefully removed existing asphalt shingles and installed a new CertainTeed Landmark Pro (Colonial Slate) roof along with new 6” K-Style seamless-gutters and 3” x 4” corrugated downspouts, High Gloss White. Existing copper counter flashing details were in great shape and salvaged, tied into the new CertainTeed roof system. CertainTeed Landmark Pro (Colonial Slate) was a perfect shingle color to complement the existing brick and siding colors on this home.
Before beginning this roof project, we installed tarps over the front face of the home and garden below. Existing shingles were then carefully removed from all front roof sections, down to existing sheathing. Once the existing asphalt shingles were removed, we thoroughly inspected the sheathing. Upon inspection, all sheathing was structurally sound and did not require any pieces to be replaced. Existing roofing nails were then removed, and the sheathing was swept entirely. Ice & water shield was installed along eaves, valleys and around the perimeter of dormers, chimney, and roof penetrations. CertainTeed Roof Runner underlayment was then installed over the entire roofing section, using staples. Alongside this, drip edge was installed to the perimeter of the roof, using hand nails, and all front pipes received new pipe collars. This was followed by starter shingles and CertainTeed Landmark Pro (Colonial Slate) asphalt shingle installation, using roofing coil nails. ridges were carefully cut before installing ridge vents and finished with color match ridge caps, using roofing hand nails.
Our attention was then directed to the rear roof sections of this home and the shed roof in the back yard. Once again, we installed garden and ground protection to the rear perimeter of the home. We then carefully removed existing shingles and performed a sheathing inspection. Following inspection, sheathing on the main home was structurally sound but the shed roof required two pieces of sheathing to be removed and replaced. All roof sections were then swept of loose nails and debris before beginning Ice & water shield installation. Next, CertainTeed Roof Runner underlayment was stapled to the rear roof section and drip edge installed to the roof's perimeter. All roof pipes received new pipe collars, flashed properly throughout, before beginning the new CertainTeed roof system installation. The remainder of ridges were carefully cut, and new ridge vents and color match caps were then installed, using hand nails. All rake and siding locations were then cleaned of dirt and debris, with soap and water. To finish this roof project, we performed a thorough job-site cleanup, as well as a thorough garden and yard magnetic sweep. Excess materials were hauled off site and the property was left as we found it! Another happy customer!
